The Autobiography Project

****UPDATE****

Here's the link for the fifth grade autobiography instructions. I'm thinking it could be a starting point for us. It would be helpful if we could all print off the assignment and edit it to make it more appropriate for the grade level(s) you teach. Once you've created your assignment, please post on the blog. Also, I have a rubric, but I'm not thrilled with it. Does anyone have that could be easily adaptable for different grade levels?

One suggestion I have is to implement an Autobiography Project at SMA this year. This would serve as a common assessment piece across grade levels. We will need to refer to the CA state standards to determine "critical features" for each grade level's assignment. We could also work together to create common rubrics (of course with varying degrees of specificity and difficulty depending on grade level).

I love this idea, especially making it a an across the grade level project. We can probably even make it work across the curriculum. Look forward to hearing more details about your idea!

I am thrilled to see your Autobiography Project being implemented this year! Many of our conversations during last year's faculty meetings focused on this very idea. How exciting to actually see it becoming a reality at our school. Great job, Julie!

I think this is a really great idea! The kids are able to gain so much more from their SMA experiences this way!
