Friday's Faculty Meeting 9/26

At the faculty meeting on Friday, we will be discussing our plans for the autobiography project. We will begin by talking about the goals of our writing PLC. It might help if we begin to think about the specific writing expectations we have for our students at our respective grade levels. I'm thinking that most of our work will take place in grade level teams, rather than as a whole group. We also need to brainstorm solutions to technical issues (i.e., how to store the autobiographies from year-to-year, developing somewhat common rubrics, and the actual "autobiography assignment").
  • If possible, please come prepared to share some "ingredients" of exemplary work at your grade. Example ingredients may include: proper usage of dialogue, opening and closing paragraphs, clear thesis statement, and use of content vocabulary.
  • Please bring a rubric you have used to assess a writing assignment.
Post any other ideas you have! :-)

I am looking forward to working with faculty members on this autobiography assignment. In addition, I also think this is an opportunity to really focus on "the big picture". I have reviewed 2nd and 3rd standards to see where they've been and where we need to go this year. Another piece is to know 4th Grade standards--what lies ahead. This should be a great learning experience for teachers, too!
